120 years of Altendorf: brand, company and production brought together
- Press releases
From Pioneer to The Craftsman’s Best Friend: new production facility in Minden officially opened.
Minden, September 9 2026.
Altendorf officially opened its new production facility in Minden on September 4, 2026. In the year of its 120th anniversary, the company has also brought its manufacturing together: with the relocation of edgebanding machine production from the Hüllhorst site, all machine manufacturing now runs at a single location. Altendorf invested a single-digit million euro sum.
The ribbon was cut by (f.l.t.r.): Christof Malz (Head of Operations), Rainer Hundsdörfer (CEO Altendorf), Angelika Buttler (representing District Administrator Ali Doğan), and Thorsten Bülte (Deputy Mayor of Minden).
Everything for the product in one place
In Minden, Altendorf now manufactures sliding table saws and edgebanding machines under one roof. Procurement, development, product management, production and the entire administration are based at a single location and work in direct contact. The result is uniform standards, more common parts, shorter throughput times and fewer missing parts. Staff can be deployed more flexibly, which reduces downtime. Minden is Altendorf’s only production site in Germany; a second plant in China is closely integrated with it.
The final step of a realignment
September 4 marks the end point of a path that began in January. The brand came first: since then, the entire machine portfolio has been marketed under the Altendorf name, including the edgebanding machines. On August 1, the company followed, merged legally and operationally into Altendorf GmbH. With the new production facility, manufacturing has now followed suit. What began as a realignment of the brand has arrived on the shop floor: in its anniversary year, Altendorf operates as one company.
What customers gain
For customers and dealers, the machine remains the machine they know. What changes is the route to it: one point of contact for the entire portfolio, from the sliding table saw to the edgebanding machine, and one organisation in which enquiries, quotations and spare parts no longer pass between two companies.
A clear commitment to Minden
Altendorf marks its 120th anniversary this year under the motto “From Pioneer to The Craftsman’s Best Friend”. The target: market and technology leadership in premium machines for the trade, and setting the standard for occupational safety on sliding table saws. For the current training year, Altendorf has again taken on apprentices in technical and commercial roles. Rainer Hundsdörfer, CEO of Altendorf: “No future without origins. Only those who know where they come from can shape the future. That is exactly what we are doing here, with a clear commitment to Minden and to the people who work here. Customers have relied on their experience for 120 years.”
