bring a numbered piece of this history into their own workshop: the F 45 Anniversary Edition.
The F 45: in workshops around the world for generations
It all began in 1906 with an idea. In Minden, Wilhelm Altendorf built the first circular saw with a longitudinally adjustable sliding table – the Altendorf system. What had previously been laboriously guided by hand now ran precisely, consistently and safely. The way wood was cut in the joinery trade changed fundamentally, and the name Altendorf became the benchmark.
Over the decades, this invention became an icon: the F 45. It is internationally recognised as the best-selling panel saw – in many countries, people simply refer to it as ‘the Altendorf’. It can be found in small joinery workshops as well as in industrial production, often remaining in the same business for two or three generations. This longevity is no coincidence, but the result of precision, robust construction and consistent further development.
Today, the F 45 combines this heritage with modern workshop practice – available on request with HAND GUARD, the first certified, AI-supported safety assistance system for panel saws. The anniversary edition pays homage to this history: a machine that shows where Altendorf comes from and where the craft is heading.
